Mandatory Checks

Cafs is a child safe organisation.  To ensure ongoing safety towards children across all areas of our organisation we require all our people (employees, volunteers – including Board members, student placements, contractors etc.) and applicants for any of these roles to undertake all of the following mandatory checks:

  • A satisfactory clearance of a current Police Record Check (category: employment – working with children). We understand that people can make mistakes and turn their lives around.  In these circumstances, we ask applicants to be open, honest and upfront.  We will keep these discussions confidential and discuss the process in these situations;
  • Satisfactory clearance of an International Police Check (where a person has lived overseas for more 12 months in the last 10 years);
  • A current Working with Children Check (for employees Category: employment – working with children) under the Children, Youth & Families Act 2005;
  • A current Working with Children Check (for volunteers Category: volunteering – working with children) under the Children, Youth & Families Act 2005;
  • A minimum of three (3) referees from direct line managers and/or supervisors. Cafs understands that this may not be possible for graduates, people returning to the workforce after a break and international applicants.  In these cases, we still encourage applications and we will work with preferred applicants for appropriate arrangements for the three references.
  • Confirmation of eligibility to work in Australia, Unfortunately as a not for profit organisation we are unable to directly sponsor overseas applicants at this point in time.
